Sounds
Being in charge of sound, I spent a lot of time creating the music and sound effects layered in the game environment.

The software I use to create everything you hear is FL Studio, a well known and widely used DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). Mainly used to create songs, I utilized the software's audio manipulation features to create short audio clips to use as sound effects.

Songs From the Game

One of the challenges that come with making music for a game with constantly changing themes is consistency. How can I make a song that can play during the entire game and fit well with all the different elements we have included?

The solution I found: leitmotifs. A leitmotif is a short, recurring musical phrase in different songs in soundtracks. These can be found in your favorite tv shows or video games, and the idea behind it is to create a subconscious association with the sound and an idea in the game. Having this short musical phrase play in different ways at different moments allows the player to feel a sense of continuity while they travel through time and space in our game. For a game that combines many different themes and ideas, the music varies greatly between the level. With the addition of a leitmotif, the player gets a sense of familiarity with a new level, even if they have never seen it before.

For this game, there is a variation of the same musical phrase that plays in the three different songs. Listen closely while you're playing and you might catch it!
